Hair on the soap - it's a problem for some people; for others it's no big deal. You can ignore it or you can wash it away - but you always notice it.
Later today, my son will leave his home and family and return to a war zone. For six months he will be deployed on a patrol craft in the Persian Gulf, patrolling the coasts of Iraq, Iran and Kuwait. Nothing else matters to me today.

I'm a moderate with liberal tendencies and conservative roots - which is a tough way to live. I have issues with partisan politics. I'm a former Mormon, an inactive Episcopalian, and a serious student of Buddhism. I have issues with religion. I'm married for the second time; I have five children, two step-children, and nine wonderful grandchildren. My 14-year old stepson died in 2002 and that changed almost everything. I play to a 15 handicap and have a hole-in-one. I have a love-hate relationship with the Dodgers. I could live on chips, salsa and guacamole. I love Guinness, margaritas, and Sapphire gin & tonic. I love to travel and have been in all 50 states and 15 foreign countries. I've moved more than 40 times, and have lived on the East Coast, Left Coast and Gulf Coast. It's been a good life.

I've had Josh on my mind all week, as well as Jessi and the boys.
I've said it before and I'll say it again: If Josh is representative, and I believe he is, we are blessed with an incredible group of young men and women serving in our armed forces.
